James “Jimmy” Alvin Ferrell, 86, passed away at UMMC on Thursday, March 16, 2023. There will be a graveside service on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Sharon Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Magee, MS. Please join us in remembrance of Jimmy’s life.
Jimmy was born on February 20, 1937, to the late James Denver Ferrell and Mabel Owens Ferrell in Jackson, Mississippi. He proudly served his country in the U.S Army. He has resided in Greenville, MS for the past 44 years, working as an industrial engineer until retirement. Even after retirement, he continued to stay busy in the industry. He was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.
Jimmy loved life as well as his family, but his greatest loves were his wife and two daughters. He was passionate about animals and has cared for many fur babies throughout his life. He enjoyed sports car racing as well as NASCAR. He was a member of the Sports Car Club in Jackson, MS for many years. Jimmy acquired his pilot license in the 80’s and thoroughly enjoyed flying. When he did take a seat, he enjoyed watching college and pro football.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mrs. Ruby Sasser Ferrell; daughters, Kelly Ferrell (Paul Williams) of Indianola, MS, and Lindsay Ferrell-Giachelli (Randy) of Brandon, MS; sister, Mary Jo Miller of Clinton, MS; niece, Andrea Moore of Greenwood, MS as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
