Mr. James "Jim" William Reed

James “Jim” William Reed, of Pearl, passed into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at MS Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He was 83 years old. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, May 2nd from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. Funeral Service all at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Reverend Jeff Holland, James Van Reed, Richard Wagner and Bishop Melvin R. Shuler will all be officiating. Jim was born August 29, 1938 to the late James Bradley and Gladys Reed in Freeport, Illinois where he was raised. He loved living in Mississippi where he was a member of Pinelake Church where he volunteered as a greeter and was a friend to all. He loved ministering in nursing homes and serving with his Men’s Ministry. He was a family man who loved his family dearly, especially his wife of 21 years. Jim was a deep thinker, full of wisdom and was also a great listener. Along with his parents, James Bradley Reed and Gladys Veronica Coupe Reed, Jim was also preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Elizabeth Legge. He is survived by his wife, Amelia Ann Reed of Pearl; son, James Van (Lea) Reed of Scotts Valley, CA; daughter, Stephanie Kathleen Reed (Chris) Gist of Charlottesville, VA; grandchildren, James Bladon Reed, Willa Susan Reed, Dave Augustus Reed, Ava Margaret Reed, Mary Elizabeth Gist; and numerous nieces and nephews who he loved dearly. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Pinelake Men's Bible Study Rice Fund, 111 Stonington Court, Brandon, MS 39947.
