James “Jimmy” Ronald Williamson of Florence, 86, left this world to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, August 13, 2021 at Baptist Hospital in Jackson. There will be a Graveside Service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 16th at Richland Cemetery in Richland, MS. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Clara Williamson of Richland; three children, Denise (Ron) French, Trish (Mark) Vedros, and Ronny (Suzanne) Williamson; grandchildren, Zach (Lauren) Vedros, Delaney Vedros, Ashley (Corey) Barlow, and Hannah Williamson; great grandchildren, Aubrey and Mylah Barlow; and brothers, Don (Eva) Williamson and Jerry (Norma Jean) Williamson. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee and Clyde Williamson; sister, Bobbie Brannon; and brother, Dan Williamson. Jimmy graduated from Monticello High School in 1952 where he enjoyed playing basketball. After high school, he was drafted in the U.S. Army and stationed at Fort Chaffee, AR. He served our great country proudly during the Korean War. In 1997 he retired from UPS where he spent most of his career. He was a life long member of First Baptist Church of Richland. He enjoyed gardening, traveling with his wife in their motor home, and tinkering with farm machinery. If he wasn’t outside in his garden or in his shop, he was watching various sports games on TV. He was a “true county boy”! Jimmy was a wonderful father, husband, grandfather, and friend to many! He loved getting together daily with his friends over coffee and discussing the topics of the day. He will be truly missed but we feel he is at peace and in the arms of our loving God!
