James C. Kendrick, Sr. (Jimmy) passed away Wednesday, August 15, at St. Dominic's Hospital. Jimmy was 73 years old. He was the youngest of 6 children born to John W. Kendrick, Sr. and Elizabeth Cardwell Kendrick. He loved music and line dancing. He taught a class of line dancers at the Clinton Y. He sang in the Adult Choir at Alta Woods Baptist Church. He went to Copiah Lincoln Community College on a football scholarship and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Jimmy went on to graduate at MS State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a member of MENSA and belonged to the Jackson chapter. He was a member of the MS Country Western Dance Association. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shirley Craven Kendrick, two sons, Jim, Jr. (wife Gail) of Fallbrook, California, Bryan Kendrick of Jackson and granddaughters Erin and Rachel Kendrick of Fallbrook, California. His surviving brothers are John W. Kendrick, Jr. of Lexington, KY and Robert S. Kendrick of Tucson, AZ also sister Wanda Roy of New Orleans and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Friday August 17 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday August 18 in the chapel at Chancellor Funeral Home.
