James Lloyd “Dickie” McDonald, 80, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Visitation will be Monday, April 14th from 5-8 PM and Tuesday, April 15th from 9 AM until the 10 AM funeral service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow at Clear Branch Cemetery. Mr. McDonald was a retired machinist with Vickers, a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, and was an avid gardener. He was preceded in death by his parents, D.B., Sr. and Lillie Mae McDonald; son, Billy Ray McDonald; grandson, Adam Muirhead; siblings, Ray McDonald, D.B. McDonald, Jr., and Velma Berryhill. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Helga McDonald of Clear Branch; step-sons, Danny (Janice) Brinson of Clear Branch and Curt ( Debbie) Brinson of Richland; step-daughters, Glenda (Freddie) Bankston of Florence and Debbie (Bobby) McCraw of Clear Branch; brother, Billy McDonald of Crystal Springs; sisters, Barbara Ball of Terry and Sybil Walker of Clear Branch; 8 grandchildren and 13 grandchildren. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Alexander Haick and the Nurses at MBMC for their care.
