Mr. James R. Leggette, Sr.

James R. Leggette, Sr, 84 , passed away Friday, December 2, 2016 at MS Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation will be 5-7pm on Saturday, December 3, 2016 and 1-2pm on Sunday, December 4. Funeral Service will be at 2pm on Sunday, all at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Interment will follow at Raymond Cemetery. Mr. Leggette was born in Lake Providence, LA and was former owner of Jackson Tool & Engineering for 32 years. He was a former Hinds County Reserve Deputy Sheriff with the rank of Sergeant for 20+ years and one of the founding members of the Mounted Patrol Unit. Mr. Leggette was a member of First Baptist Church of Terry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Will Leggette and Martha Tony Leggette. Survivors include his wife Warrene Leggette; children,Linda Phillips (Mike) of Madison, Judy Wheatley (Lee) of Madison, Vicky Brooks of Ridgeland, Ricky Leggette (Pam) of Crystal Springs, Gail Leggette Fletcher of Pearl and Brittany Martin (Yance) of Carthage; 15 grand children; 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; two sisters, Virginia House and Barbara Leggette both of Tallulah, LA.
