James Western McMillian of Jackson age 86, went home to his Savior Monday, November 13, 2017 at 11:45am. He was born November 26, 1930 in Bentonia, MS as the last member of the late Thomas Levi and Minnie Lee Wooten McMillian family. Mr. McMillian was a member of Truitt Baptist Church in Pearl. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Nell Reynolds McMillian, and his 7 siblings: Willie McMillian, Tommy McMillian, JB McMillian, Eula Mae Luke, Annie Lancaster, Marlee Beckham, and Lavinia Palmer. He is survived by his daughter Debbie McMillian (Scott) Wharton of Raymond, and son, Tim (Sheila) McMillian of Mendenhall, along with grandchildren Melissa Wharton Walsh, Chris Wharton, Jessica Wharton, Ashley Wharton Bingham, Brad Beyer, Mary McMillian, Marc McMillian, great grandchildren TI Beyer, Bre Beyer, Bentley Beyer, Spencer Reed, Valerie Morgan, Tyler Walsh, Ryan Walsh, Ian Wharton, Olivia Wharton, Harper Nell Wharton, Addison Bingham, and Charlie James Bingham. Mr. McMillian was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a proud Army veteran where he served with the 31st Dixie Infantry Division and the 501st Airborne Infantry. Corporal McMillian earned the distinction of being named a Sharpshooter. He later served in the Army National Guard. He worked for the United States Postal Service until retirement. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion Post 0112, NRA, National Postal Mail Handlers Union. He loved hunting, gardening, and watching his grandsons play baseball. Visitation will be from 11-2 with Service at 2pm on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Interment will follow at Lakewood South.
