James Ray Moak

June 3, 1950 — April 4, 2023

Florence

James Ray Moak was born on June 3, 1950, to Inez and Homer Moak of
McComb, MS. On May 29, 1976, he married the love of his life Belinda
Peacock Moak. He was blessed with 2 loving sons, James Ray Moak, JR. (Connie) of Canton, GA and Joseph Ray Moak (Nikki) of Richland, MS.

These children have blessed them with 9 grandchildren: Madison, Caitlin, Raygan, Tyler Ray, Hunter, James, Wesley, Lillie Ray, Josie Ray, and 1 great-grandchild, Waylon Ray. He was also blessed with many nieces, nephews and a host of great nieces and nephews.
He began his career as a truck driver early in life. After many successful years in the trucking industry, he and his son Joey opened a trucking company that is still in operation today. Together they have maintained and operated a fleet of trucks since 1995 that is today known as Moak Trucking in Byram, MS.
James and Belinda are members of Hickory Ridge Baptist Church in Florence, MS, where he enjoyed worshiping under the leadership of Bro.
Terry Fant.

James enjoyed his life to the fullest. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding four-wheelers and racing with his family and friends. His greatest joy was spending time with his beloved grandchildren. James’s proudest achievement was becoming a heavyweight state champion golden glove boxer in 1979. He then began coaching Joey, at the young age of 4 years old, in baseball. He continued to coach until Joey reached the age of 18. The team he was most proud of was “The Regulators” where he was able to impact the lives of many young boys. His joy of coaching continued when he and Joey started to coach both Raygan and Tyler Ray for many years. By following his dreams, James was able to impact many young children as he coached and remained very involved in his community.

On Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at 12:30 P.M., James was welcomed home by his Lord and Savior. He was preceded in death by his parents, Inez and Homer Moak, his sister, Martha Woodruff and brother, Wayne Moak. He is survived by his wife Belinda Moak, his two sons, James (Connie) and Joseph (Nikki), his many grandchildren, his great-grandson, his brother Gary Moak and a host of nieces and nephews.
