James R. “Jim” Posey died Saturday, June 6, 2015 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Visitation will be held 5pm-8pm Monday, June 8, 2015 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram and again at 12 noon on Tuesday. Funeral services will be 2pm Tuesday, June 9, 2015 in the chapel at Chancellor Funeral Home; interment will follow in Rosemont Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Posey was born May 28, 1937. He was the son of R.B. and Mary Lucille Johnson Posey. Mr. Posey graduated form Meridian High School in 1955. He attended Meridian Community College and in 1957 and began his postal career in the Railway Mail Service in Memphis, TN. He worked as a Railway Mail Clerk in Memphis and Meridian until mail service was discontinued on the trains. He was assigned to the Jackson Post Office in 1967. He worked for the Postal Service for 35 years and retired in 1992 as manager, Sta. Operations. Mr. Posey and Jewel Stokes were married in 1956 and were blessed with five children. Mr. Posey is survived by his wife to whom he was married for 58 years, his sons, Phil Posey and his wife Terri of Ridgeland, Mike Posey and his wife, Sharon of Jackson, Randy Posey and his wife Kay of Raymond, and daughter Joy Posey of Byram. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Chris Posey, Dusty Posey, Dylan Posey, Anna Posey, Austin Posey and Josh Posey. He is also survived by three sisters, Lynda Song and Phyllis Posey of Brandon and Wanda Sullivan and her husband Warren of Raymond. Survivors also include several nieces and nephews, and a special cousin, Glenn Gaubert of Meridian, all of whom he loved very much.. He was preceded in death by his parents, R.B. and Lucille Posey and a son, Perry Glenn Posey. Pall bearers will be Chris Posey, Dusty Posey, Dylan Posey, Austin Posey, Josh Posey and Brian Carmichael. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Reece and Scott Brantley.
