James L. Smiley

James L. Smiley, 81, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013 in Jackson. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 12th from 5-8pm and Thursday, June 13th from 10am until the 11am funeral service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow at Flora Hills Memorial Gardens. Mr. Smiley was a member of First Baptist Church of Florence. While at his church Mr. Smiley was very active and loved missionary work. Whether he was growing flowers or vegetables, he was passionate about gardening. Mr. Smiley was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Brown Smiley; father and mother, Louis B. and Grace Blackburn Smiley; sister, Louise Walker. He is survived by his wife, Anita Renfrow Smiley of Harrisville; his daughter, Debra Williams (Ross) of Florence; his son, James Robert Smiley of Mexico; his step children, Jana Neely (Allen) of Harrisville, Chris Renfrow (Tammy) of Harrisville, Maria Renfrow of Clinton; his sister, Iris Lofton of Newton; his grandson, Jonathan Williams; 10 step grandchildren, 8 step great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
