James Edward Bailey Sr., age seventy-six, went to be with the Lord April 1, 2009 at his home in Florence, MS.\ \ He was born at Leflore in Grenada county Mississippi on November 1, 1932. Mr. Bailey graduated from Holcomb High School, and then served in the Korean War in the Air Force. He retired from the United States Postal Service after thirty-three years. He was an active and dedicated deacon at Park Hill Baptist Church, and he enjoyed gardening and spending time with family. He was also a sports enthusiast.\ \ Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his parents George Robert and Catherine Oweda Bailey, his two brothers Houston and Richard Bailey, and his father and mother-in-law John William and Annie McNeer.\ \ He is survived by his wife Jesse McNeer Bailey, his daughter Cathy Anne Bailey Pierce (Bill Pierce), his son Jimmy Bailey (Kay Bailey), his granddaughter Erin Bailey Price (Rich Price), his grandson Phillip Bailey, and six siblings-Catherine Neal, John Robert Bailey, Bobby Bailey, Dorothy Moore, Leroy Bailey, Lallie Fly; step grandchildren, William (Christy) Osterdahl, Tammy (Paul) Neves; step great grandchildren, Billy, Jenna and Macy Osterdahl, Leah & Cole Neves and Henry Bastoni and a number of nieces and nephews.\ \ Visitation will be at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, MS on Thursday, April 2 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.\ \ Funeral services will be held at Park Hill Baptist Church, 4862 McRaven Rd., Jackson, on Friday, April 3. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 PM and services will begin at 1:00 PM.\ \ Burial will be at Garden of Memories in Florence, MS.\
