James Odell Carmichael, 86, went to be with his Heavenly Father on November 29, 2012, at his home in Brandon, Mississippi. A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 65 years, Edna Earle Carmichael and a daughter, Jeanell Holder (Rodney). He is also survived by two granddaughters, Tiffany Hutchins (David) and Heather Holder. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Elizabeth Carmichael and a brother, Oree Carmichael.\ James was born in Clark County, MS. He began a career with East Mississippi Electric Power Association in Meridian, MS, in 1946. His career lasted forty-three years with thirty-six of those working in DeKalb, MS. After retiring in 1989, he made his home in Terry, MS, and moved to Brandon, MS in 2010. \ While living in DeKalb, he served as a member of the DeKalb Volunteer Department. He also served as a loyal member of the DeKalb and Terry Lions Clubs. After moving to Terry, he found a new church home at New Covenant Methodist Church in Byram, where he served on the board of directors. \ The celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2012, at 2:00, at the chapel of Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, MS. Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 2:00 preceding the service.
