Jane Marie Dalton, 89, passed away Monday, January 3, 2022 at her residence in Byram, MS. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday January 10, 2022 from 11:00 am until 12:00pm at Marvin United Methodist Church in Florence, MS. Jane Marie Zierman Dalton was born on July 5, 1932 at home in Cushing Minnesota, to William and Martha Zierman. She attended grade school in a one-room school house, then graduated Little Falls High School in 1950. She worked as a candy striper at St Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls during high school and later took nurses training there, becoming a registered nurse. She met the love of her life, William Thomas Dalton, Sr., and was married in January 1956. She went on to have five children: Thomas Dalton, Laurence Dalton, Jill Smith (Steve), William Dalton, Jr. and the light of all of our family’s life, Joanie Polk (Marty). Joanie was named after Jane’s best friend and sister-in-law, Joan Zierman. One of her proudest accomplishments was being a mother and a wife. Her husband, Bill was referred to as a traveling salesman. They lived in 5 different states while raising their family. Moving with five children was not easy, but she made it look that way. She was blessed with 8 grandchildren: Jessica Dalton, Laurence Dalton, William Dalton, Laura Adcock, Alexander Smith, Christine Lowery, Charlie Garner, and Maxwell Garner and 3 great-grandchildren, Maddielynn Polk, William Adcock, and Adeline Adcock. Jane was born one of eleven children: Oscar, Frank, Florence, Alice, Irene, Wilma, Leonard, Jane, Vernon, Arthur, and Walter. Her surviving siblings are Alice Etzler of Kalispell MT, Irene Shrupp of Heber Springs, AK, Vernon Zierman of Forest Lake, MN and Walter Zierman of Seattle WA.
