Janice Marie Dear

Mrs. Janice Dear passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, in Jackson, Mississippi. She was 71 years old. The family will receive friends for visitation from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 28, 2023, at Harrisville Baptist Church in Harrisville, Mississippi. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow the service at Harrisville Cemetery.

Mrs. Janice was born on March 28, 1952, to R. C. Malone Sr. and Cora Inez Garrard Malone in Sturgis, MS. She was raised in Jackson but has lived in Harrisville for 22 years where she was a member of Harrisville Baptist Church. She was the Co-Director of the “Shakers & Movers” and the food pantry for the church. Mrs. Janice was a true servant. She worked for Wilkins, Stephen & Tipton Law Firm as a legal secretary. Janice loved her family and her animals.

Along with her parents, Mrs. Janice is preceded in death by her siblings, Ralph Malone, Randy Malone, Donnie Malone, James Malone, Jean Malone and Sandy Samuels. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Grady Dear of Harrisville; children, Kim Rice (Jack) of Clinton, David Newton (Lisa) of Duck Hill, and Danny Newton (Stephanie) of Duck Hill; brother, Junior Malone (Linda) of Southaven; sisters, Rosa Tindall of Batesville and Kathy Ashworth (Allen) of Starkville; grandchildren, Amber Ratcliff and Connor Rice.
