Janice Barron Grantham, 73, went home to be with her heavenly father on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020. The family will have a private family Funeral Service at Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Tuesday, April 14th at 2:00 p.m. The church will live stream the service on their Facebook page for anyone who wishes to participate. She will be laid to rest at Clear Branch Cemetery following the service. Janice was born February 25, 1947 in Grenada County to Carlos and Maggie Barron who preceded her in death. She grew up in Jackson on Beatty Street. She always enjoyed talking about her time playing hopscotch and riding bikes in Doodleville. She later attended George Elementary and Byram High School where she was All Conference in basketball and Tennis. She was a long-time employee of the Mississippi Highway Patrol and retired from Dr. Lloyd Wolfe Orthodontics. In between those two jobs, she cared for many children in her home. She also cared for several members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where she was a member. Since retiring, she has enjoyed spending time with her 5 grandchildren, traveling, keeping up with the world events on Fox News, cheering on her Ole Miss Rebels, playing bunko, and building her Facebook following. No matter where she was or what she was doing, her family, especially her grandkids were always the most important thing to her. Janice is survived by her husband, Troy; sons, Darin and Robbie; daughter-in-law, Nicole; and grandkids, Chandler, Wyatt, Averie, Madison, and Tailor. In lieu of flower, donations can be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church in her memory.
