Janice Walters, 47, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at her home in Brandon. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 15, from 2:00pm until 4:00pm at Chancellor Funeral Home Chapel in Florence. The family will be speaking from 3:00pm – 3:15pm. Mrs. Walters was born in Houston, Texas to John David Martin and Dorothy Evelyn Hunter on May 20, 1970. She lived in the Florence and Brandon area for the past 45 years. She was a homemaker where she enjoyed going for walks, cooking, reading, spending time at the reservoir, going out to eat, lighthouses, her cat “Kitty”, and Mickey Mouse. Music was a passion of hers, specifically playing the saxophone and taught herself to play the piano. Her family would like her to be remembered for the fact that she always marched to the beat of her own drum. She is survived by her parents, John David and Dorothy Evelyn Martin; son, Chance Walters; daughter, Haley Black; brothers, Alan Martin of Knoxville, TN and Jimmy Martin of Columbus, MS; sisters, Rhonda Hilton of Florence, MS and Laura House of Caladonia, MS; grandchildren, Haydon Kay and Bransen Gosnell of Florence, MS.
