Mr. Jarvis "Doc" Simmons

Jarvis “Doc” Simmons, 77, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017 at UMMC in Jackson surrounded by his loving family. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, February 22nd at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 9:00 -11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Florence. Burial will follow at Florence City Cemetery. Doc has lived in Florence since 1961 where he was a member of First Baptist Church in Florence and an active member of the Men’s Brotherhood. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and was a retired electrician. Doc was survived by his wife of 32 years, Ann C. Simmons of Florence; son, Lee Simmons of Baton Rouge; daughters, Lynn Simmons of Joplin, MO, Vickie (Doug) Ross of Florence, and Denise (Ken) May of Florence; brother, Rony Simmons of Aztec, NM; 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
