Jean Mary Taylor Harrison, 100, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Villa South Assisted Living in Florence. Visitation will be Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until the 12:00 p.m. funeral service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow at Florence City Cemetery. Jean Harrison was an incredible seamstress and an exceptional cook. Her cornbread was legendary. She was elegant, dressed with great style, but by her own admission, she was not good at being a country girl. The farm animals frightened her. She once took refuge with her daughter Barbara in an outhouse when some cows got too close for comfort. Mama Jean was very creative. She made numerous folk art paintings. Her mosaic turntables were cherished prizes for all who were lucky enough to receive one. Mrs. Harrison was preceded in death by her husband, Benton Harrison; brothers, Douglas, Marion, and Dan Webb; sisters, Tressie, Lurline, Cecile, and Doris; and one great grandson. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara (Lonnie) Moseley of Brandon and Dannie (Bill) Anderton of West Point; grandchildren, Ben (Judy) Moseley of Florence, Trey (Karen) Moseley of Braxton, Meg (Jimmy) Maulding of Brandon, Kevin (Carla) Anderton of Collierville, TN, and Scott (Dedra) Anderton of Collierville, TN; 14 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff at Villa South for taking care of “Granny”.
