Jean McCreary Slade, 71, of Raymond, passed into her Heavenly home on January 17, 2021 at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Jean was born to the late Frank and Elizabeth McCreary of Raymond on December 11, 1949. She was a lifelong resident of Raymond and a graduate of Raymond High School. She married her one and only love, the late Rev. John C. Slade in July of 1967 and together they had four children, Andy Slade, Nancy (Tommy) Pettis, Patti Stubbs, and Johnny (Kim) Slade, all of Raymond. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren (two on way) and her sister, Kaye Frosch of Huntsville Texas. She is preceded in death by many loved ones, including two grandchildren, Elijah Slade and Lyndsey Brooks Slade. Jean was the epitome of the Proverbs 31 woman and lived her life as an example of that for others in not only the love and support as the wife of a pastor but in her life as a whole. She was a mama to many over the years, loving them as her own as many reading this know first-hand. There were always extra kids and she always had plenty on the table for them. She was a beautiful floral designer, working her early years in her family's flower shop and has made many beautiful wedding arrangements and stuff all through the years. She was also an excellent southern cook and if you missed that then you truly missed something special. She enjoyed spending time laughing, playing games, doing puzzles and watching the Waltons and Tom and Jerry with the grand and great grands. She also had a very special place in her heart for her fur babies and given a minute, she'd tell you all about them. A small private graveside service will be held at her request following COVID guidelines.
