A Granddaughter’s Reflection I read a quote once that said a grandmother is a little bit parent, a little bit teacher, and a little bit best friend. This quote sums up what my grandmother was to me. She was kind, compassionate, fun, and full of stories. Some of the best memories I have growing up is being at her house with all of my cousins, running in and out of the house and playing games. You would think a house full of kids would have driven her crazy, but it didn’t. She loved her family and I believe she was the happiest when her house was full of the people she loved. Never did I hear her complain when it came to her grandchildren. She boasted proudly about each and every one of our accomplishments, no matter how small. She was very understanding and a great teacher. She taught me how to cook and encouraged me to try new recipes. She never was unpleasant when things didn’t turn out great; she would just give me advice on how to make it better the next time around. I appreciated her encouragement and because of her I continue to try new things and never fret when things fail the first time around. My grandmother Jeanette was a wonderful story teller and a great listener. She loved to talk and gossip. When I was younger, I loved staying up and listening to her tell stories about her life. As I got older, I was still fond of her stories, but I appreciated it so much more that she was willing to listen to my stories about my life. I will miss her stories, her kindness, her encouragement, and her optimism, but I know her memory will live on in all our hearts. On line guest book available at www.chancellorfuneralhome.com.
