Jeanette Byrd Harper passed into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson. She was 91 years old. She will be laid to rest following a private family graveside service at Clear Branch Cemetery. Everyone is invited to attend the Celebration of Life service that will be held on Sunday, November 27th at Mt. Zion Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. John Patterson officiating.
Mrs. Harper was born November 25, 1930, to the late Jim and Mary White Byrd in Florence, MS where she lived her entire life and was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She served as the Librarian in Florence for 33 years and worked at Byrd’s Grocery store for 25 years, enjoying both. She was a very generous woman. She enjoyed singing and working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She loved her family dearly.
Along with her parents, Mrs. Harper is also preceded in death by her brother, Bo Byrd; daughters, Paulette Harper Crain and Suzi Harper Sanders; and by her granddaughter, Susan Ashley Sanders. She is survived by her son, Dale (Cindy) Barron of Florence; brother, Jerry (Shirley) Byrd of Ridgeland; grandchildren, Shane (Robin) Sanders, Jason Crain, Holly (Matt) McDonald, Kacey (Joseph) Moran, and Beatty Barron; great grandchildren, Hayden (Amanda) Flynn, Reagan Sanders, Peyton Sanders, Hannah Sanders, and Andrew McDonald; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and other extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church Building Fund in her memory.
