Jerry Loyd Hart

Jerry Loyd Hart, 85, of Pearl, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2024. Born on January 3, 1939, in Brookhaven, Mississippi, Jerry was the beloved son of Fred Hart and Mary Rials Hart, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by seven brothers and four sisters.  

Jerry is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Neeta Hart of Pearl, and their loving family: daughter Julie Hart and granddaughter Jenna Hart, both of Pearl; son James Hart of Crystal Springs, Mississippi; and brother Joe Hart of Madison, Mississippi. Jerry also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will cherish his memory.  

A man of deep faith, Jerry was an active member of Siwell Road Church of Christ, where he found great joy in fellowship and worship. His work as a printer, including many years in the Graphic Arts Department for Jackson Public Schools, was a source of pride and accomplishment.  

Jerry had a passion for genealogy and old photos, often spending hours tracing his family’s roots and collecting memories of the past. He and his brothers treasured reminiscing about days gone by, a pastime they affectionately called “kicking tombstones.” Family gatherings were a frequent and cherished tradition. Jerry’s love for the outdoors was evident in his hobbies of hunting and fishing. Jerry would often spend his time golfing with friends and enjoyed competing, winning several awards. 

Alongside his beloved wife Neeta, he enjoyed traveling across the United States, with their many visits to the Grand Ole Opry being among their most treasured adventures. Jerry also had a deep appreciation for music, especially old gospel acapella hymns, old country, and bluegrass.

Jerry Hart will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of love, laughter, and faith will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
