Jerry Lee King, 71, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Visitation will be Saturday, January 21st from 10:00 AM until the 12:00 PM Funeral Service at Mt Zion Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Clear Branch Cemetery. Jerry was born in Mobile, AL and has lived the past 40 years in Florence where he was a member of Mt Zion Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Army where he served as a Paratrooper in the 101st Airborn. He loved people, his church, and the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting Civil War relics. Mr. King was preceded in death by his son, Josh King; father, Percy King; brother, Jimmy King; and sister, Joanne King. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Cheryel King of Florence; mother, Mary King of Wiggins; sons, Jason King and Andy King, both of Florence; daughter, Ashley (Steve) Summers of Vicksburg; sisters, Sue (T.R. “Buddy”) Dobbins of Wiggins, Janie Hobbs of Memphis, TN, and Tessie McKnight of Greenville; grandchildren, Krysta, Emily, Gracie and Isaac; one great grandson, Bradley and numerous nieces and nephews.
