Jewel Jeannette Mathews, 86, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2020 at Neshoba General hospital in Philadelphia, MS. Visitation will be Saturday, November 28, 2020 at the First Pentecostal Church of Jackson from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, MS. Mrs. Mathews was born to Lonice Clark and Amanda Beavers Clark on April 17, 1934. Jewel was a great, Godly woman. She walked the straight and narrow path and passed those values on to her children. She was very talented musically and played the organ, keyboard, accordion, and piano. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Paul E. Mathews, who she served alongside at numerous Pentecostal churches throughout the United Pentecostal Church International (UPCI). She is survived by her sons, Charles Edward Matthews (Pat) of Pearl, MS and Timothy Paul Matthews (Jennifer) of Walker, LA; daughters, Vickie Nell Holley and Sandra Kaye Mathews, both of Philadelphia, MS; grandchildren, Adrian (Lori) Holley, Elaina Holley, Jimmy McElhaney, Blake (Krystal) Matthews, Emilee (Derek) Peoples, Lauren (Josh) Danzy, and Nate (Ashlyn) Matthews; and a host of great-grandchildren: Sidney, Beau, Ana, and Asher Holley; Isabella, Ana-Claire, and Charlie Matthews; Londyn and Parys Angel; Afton and Oliver Peoples; and Joseph and Jacob Danzy.
