James (Jim) Kelly of Byram, MS passed away Thursday, January 20, 2011at his residence. Visitation will be 5-8pm Friday, January 21, 2011 with services Saturday at 2pm all at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Service will be conducted by Pastor Danny Berry with interment to follow at Palestine Cemetery.\ \ Serving as pallbearers will be James Keith Kelly, Dustin Kelly, Donald Strate, Tim Everett, Trinity Grossie and Derrick Barnes.\ \ He was in the United States Army for 2 years. He served in the Korean war and was honorably discharged as sergeant. Afterwards, he worked for DeSoto Furniture Company (formally MPI) for 30 years. Jim loved woodworking, gardening, animals and was an avid fisherman.\ \ He was born April 18, 1928 to Edgar and Viola Dear Kelly. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Edwin and Nelson Kelly.\ \ He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Sue N. Welch Kelly, one daughter, Pam (Terry) Harrison of Hammond, LA; granddaughters Ashley (Chad) Martin of Minneapolis, MN and Casey (Seth) Foster of Loranger, LA. He was eagerly anticipating the birth of his first great granddaughter, Rylee Clair Foster due in March.\ \ He is also survived by nephew James Keith (Roxanne) Kelly of Florence, MS and nieces Debbie (Lee) Jones of Eads, TN, Cathy Edrington of Colliersville, TN, Sharon McNay of Florence, MS and Cynthia (Jerry) York of Braxton, MS.\ \ He also leaves behind his two poodles, his babies, Little Girl and Pee-Wee.\ \ He will be greatly missed by friends and family.\ \ We would like to thank the staff of Odyssey Hospice for the care of our loved one and the comfort they brought to our family.\
