TDC Jimmie Logan Myers, United States Navy Retired, born February 1, 1937 at Star, MS, passed away on May 23, 2010 at MS Baptist Medical Center. He enlisted in the Navy in 1955 and spent twenty years serving his country. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and the VFW. He was a member of the Church of Christ of Florence, MS; American Legion, Sons of Confederate Veterans and the American Association of Military Retirees. He worked for twenty seven years in the Oil Industry. Jimmie was an Amateur Radio operator and member of JARC, ARRL, CMARC and FIST. Affectionally known as "chief" by his scouts, Jimmie was committeeman of Troop 757 of Andrew Jackson Council of BSA.\ \ Jimmie is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Samuel and Irene Case Myers of Star, MS; two brothers: Welford Lorenzo Myers and Samuel Vernon Myers, both of Star, MS; two nieces Debra Denise Myers of Star and Nancy Darlene Myers of Pearl; two nephews: Thomas Wayne Butler of Star and Frederick Grant Myers, Jr. of Pearl, MS.\ \ Jimmie is survived by his wife of thirty-six years, the former Ellen Faye Haverty of Norfolk, VA.,; daughter, Kelly Christine Myers of Star; granddaughter, Emily Grace Ponder of Petal, MS; and three grandsons: Ryan Travis May of Mendenhall and Logan Cole McCrory and Noah Preston Myers of Star; sisters: Betty Myers Butler and Sylvia Myers Parris (Virgil) of Star; three brothers: Homer Lee Myers (Neva Ree Miley), Glen Roy Myers (Betty Joan Means) and Frederick Grant Myers all of Star. Also 32 nieces and nephews, 44 great nieces and nephews, 12 great-great nieces and nephews and one great-great-great nephew.\ \ Services are being held at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS on Friday, May 28, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Jimmie will be laid to rest in Garden of Memories in Florence with full military honors. Visitation will be Thursday, May 27, 2010 from 5-8 p.m. and Friday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the services.\
