Joan E. King, a beloved member of the Raymond community for over 30 years, passed away on May 7, 2024, in Raymond, MS. She was born on September 20, 1942, in Blackhawke, MS to Tom Diggs Ellis and Bernice Evelyn Prince Ellis.
In her career, Joan retired from TG&Y in Clinton but after many years went to work at various jobs over the years, always eager to keep herself busy. Her hard work and positive attitude left a impact on those around her.
Joan was an avid fisherman, with a particular passion for bass fishing. She found joy in spending time outdoors and cherished moments by the water. Joan's love for cooking earned her the title of "Dumplin Lady". She spent countless hours working outside, she took great pride in having the prettiest yard with the most beautiful colorful flowers.
Joan's proudest accomplishments revolved around her family. She adored her grandchildren and treasured every moment she spent with them.
In death, she is reunited with her husband, James R. King; daughter, Connie Ann King; brothers, Albert Wayne Ellis, Preston Ellis, Hollis Ellis; and sister, Charlotte Ellis.
Joan leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth to be carried on by her surviving family and friends. She is survived by her daughter Tina Deen (Jason) of Wesson, MS and son, James Ray King of Fannin, MS; sister, Evelyn Callahan of Jonesborough, AR; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a best friend, Barbara Whitehead; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Joan was a longtime member of Parkside Baptist Church of Byram. She will be fondly remembered for her kind heart, unwavering spirit, and dedication to her loved ones.
