Mr. Joe Parish, 75, of Florence, MS passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Regency Hospital in St. Dominic's from complications related to West Nile. \ \ He was born in Silver Creek, MS on April 11, 1934 and was raised in Attala County.\ He graduated from McCool High School and attended Hinds Junior College. Mr. Parish was retired from Cole Industries, and was also a self-employed business owner. He was a Korean War Army veteran, and a very active member of Briar Hill Baptist Church.\ \ \ He is survived by his loving wife, Dorthelia Moore Parish; two sons: Joey (Cindy) and Greg (Caroline); five grandchildren; his sister, Ann Parish Bowie; a nephew and niece; a grand-nephew; two grand-nieces; and loving cousins.\ \ He is preceded in death by his parents, Bilbo Baxter Parish, Lucille Gaitha Parish; and his brother Billy Parish.\ \ Visitation will be Friday, November 6, 2009 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence and Saturday at 1 p.m. at the church with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Briar Hill Baptist Church in Florence, MS. Burial will be at Briar Hill Cemetery immediately following the service.\ \ One of the fondest memories for friends and family will be of him sitting in his rocking chair on his back porch eating peanuts with friends. He was a wonderful man, and will be truly missed.\
