Mr. Joe Walter Joseph Ray

Walter Joseph “Joe” Ray, 57, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at his home in Pearl. A Memorial Service will be at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 11:00 am with visitation from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. Joe, a long-time resident of Pearl, was raised in Greenville where he attended public schools and was a member of the First Baptist Church. While living in Greenville, he was a self-employed carpenter. When he moved to Pearl, he worked with Metro Fire Systems as a Fire Tech. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who love the outdoors. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mary Ann Ferguson and by his brother, Thomas Wayne Ferguson, Jr. He is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Laura H. Ray of Pearl; sons, Joseph Ray and Hunter Ray, both of Pearl; daughters, Jessica Ray and Kayla Smith, both of Pearl; brothers, Thomas Wayne Ferguson and Johnnie Odell Ferguson of Greenville; sister, Joyce Ann Holleman of Greenville; and grandchildren, Noah Ray and Samyia Smith.
