Mr. John Mangum Barnes

Mr. John M. Barnes, 85, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017, at Select Specialty Hospital in Jackson. Services will be held on Monday, November 6 at 2:30 PM at Chancellor Funeral Home Chapel. Visitations will be Sunday, November 5 from 1:00-3:00 PM and on Monday, November 6 from 1:30-2:30 PM at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS. Mr. Barnes was born in Burns, MS. He served in the U.S. Airforce and later worked at the Choctaw Maid Farms as a Supervisor. He was married to Bobbie Young whom he loved dearly for 65 years. He also loved to work and provide for his family. Mr. Barnes is preceded in death by his parents Mack and Clara Barnes; sister, Sue Henderson; and son-in-law, Jerry Simmons. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Barnes of Pearl; son, Dewayne (Pam) Barnes of Parsons, TN; daughters, Barbara Simmons of Byram and Beverly (Joey) Shows of Raymond; sisters, Lou Nell (Howard) Young of Pearl and Mamie Ruth Craft of Mize; grandchildren, Tonya (Scotty) Wilkinson, Jeremy Simmons, Joel (Ashley) Barnes, Daniel Barnes, Rachel Barnes, Angus (Brittany) Roberts, Jonathan Shows; and great-grandchildren, Savannah Wilkinson and Weston James Barnes.
