John T. Loflin\ Florence\ \ Mr. John Thomas Loflin, 86, died on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at The Arbor in Ridgeland. Visitation for family and friends is Sunday, from 1:00pm until 2:30pm at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence prior to the 3:00pm Graveside service in Mt. Creek Cemetery.\ \ Mr. Loflin born and raised in Star, MS was a successful businessman that began his idea of a career in construction work as he worked the construction detail serving his country in the US Army during the World War II and the Korean War era. After returning home from service he soon began what evolved into Loflin Sand & Gravel Co, later branching out into Loflin Properties and owner-developer of The Railroad Shopping Center in Florence. Along with his love for and devotion to his life of construction work, he enjoyed raising cattle, his time on his farm and being very involved in his community.
