Mr. John Dickey Martin, Sr.

John Dickey Martin, Sr., 89, passed away Monday, July 21, 2014 at Lakeland Nursing & Rehab Center in Jackson. Visitation will be 5-8pm Tuesday, July 22, 2014 and 1:00pm until the 2:00pm funeral service Wednesday, July 23, all at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Interment will follow at Lakewood South. Mr. Martin was raised in Terry by his late parents Thomas Ervin Martin & Elizabeth Dickey Martin and was a lifelong resident of the Hickory Ridge Community. He was a dairy farmer from 1948-1973. He is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Mary Martin; daughter Suzy Hernandez; four sisters Lorene Tidwell, Sarah Nelson, Virginia Oakman & Sue Taylor. Survivors include his sons Dickey Martin of Wesson, Danny (Linda) Martin of Florence and Miles Martin, Sr. of Florence; daughters Joan (George) Alliston of Brandon, Terisa (Roger) Lane of Mobile, AL, Denise Martin of Jackson and Angela Rose of Florence; grandchildren Matt Alliston, James Martin, Butch Martin, Nicole Pybus, Joe Martin, Tammy Andrews, Toya Gilbert, Lindsey Ceniceros, Megan Rose, Amanda Purvis, Miles Martin, Jr., Dustin Martin, Jessica Martin, Brandi Ashley and Scott Hernandez; 26 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
