John William McAllister passed away July 26, 2015 after a lengthy illness, surrounded by family. He is preceded in death by his mother, Lois McAllister and his father William “Bill” McAllister. John graduated from Central High School in 1962 then attended Hinds Community Jr. College. He then joined the Navy and served his country honorably for eight years. He met the love of is his life, Linda, in 1965 and they married in 1967. John got a kick out of telling everyone they had one date a year for three years, then dated seriously for three months and married. God blessed them with two beautiful children, Tammie McAllister Simmons and Brian McAllister. John retired from Capital City Beverage in 2011. Before that he was plant supervisor for Jackson packing Company for twenty-eight years. John was a member of Southside Baptist Church. He loved his Sunday school class, but got too sick to attend. He truly loved his Lord and could tell you anything you wanted to know about the Bible. He knew his Bible! He loved to tell anyone about his Lord. He loved nothing more than spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a big Saints and Mississippi State fan. One of is greatest times was going to see the Saints play with his son. Linda would tell everyone that God sent John to her when she needed him most. He truly blessed her with a Godly man. He was a wonderful husband and father. We went everywhere and did everything together. He was my best friend. John is survived by his wife Linda of 48 years, daughter Tammie and her husband Preston; son Brian and his wife Hope; nine grandchildren-Alexandra Simmons, Colston Simmons, Skylar Simmons, Melissa McAllister, Tristan McAllister, Justin Bullock, Patrick Bullock, Brandon Bullock, and Tyler Bullock; sister Susan Harris; brother Charles McAllister; three nephews and one niece. Visitation will be 5-8pm Tuesday, July 28, 2015 and 1pm until the 2pm funeral service Wednesday, July 29, 2015, all at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, with Brother Jeff Parker officiating. Pall Bearers will be Colston Simmons, Tristan McAllister, Bryce Mott, Patrick Bullock, Tyler Bullock and Steve Bounds. Burial will be a Lakewood Cemetery.
