Mr. John "Raymond" Thornton

John Raymond Thornton, 60, passed away June 12, 2018 at St. Dominic’s hospital in Jackson. Visitation will be Thursday, June 14th from 5-7 p.m. and Friday, June 15th from 12:00 p.m. until the 1:00 p.m. Funeral Service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories. Raymond was an avid hunter that loved to watch Old Westerns, especially John Wayne and enjoyed music. He helped anybody he could and was known for his generosity. He loved his children and his brother Bay. He is preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Patsy Thornton; brother, Bay Thornton; sister, Jenny Thornton and his nephew, Jeff Thornton. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Charlotte Thornton of Pearl, sons, John “Bubba” (Kerrin) Thornton, Jr. of Gulfport, Ray (Brandy) Thornton of Star, John Matthew (Jessica) Thornton of Gautier and Bubba Leroy (Brandy) Crider of Pearl; daughters, Amanda (Tom) Holifield of Pearl and Michelle (Brandon) Willis of Pearl; brothers, Billy Guy (Debra) Thornton of Missouri and Charles (Sue) Thornton of Pearl; sister, Anita Thornton of Florence; 20 Grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
