John Dalton Roberts, Sr., 76, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at his home in Jackson. Visitation will be 5-8pm Friday, March 15, 2019 and 9:00am until the 10:00am funeral service Saturday, March 16, all at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Interment will follow at Lakewood South. Mr. Roberts was born in Kosciusko, MS to the late James D. Roberts and Myrtis White Roberts. He was a longtime resident of the Jackson area and member of First Baptist Church of Byram. Mr. Roberts was a meat cutter for Jitney Jungle for almost 20 years then for Kroger for 25 years. He was a hunter, fisherman, great cook and member of Persimmon Hunting Club for approximately 35 years. He was affectionately known as “Uncle John”. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann Roberts. Survivors include his son, John Roberts, Jr. of Jackson; daughter, Pamela Stingley (David) of Richland; sister, Laura Wells (Earnest) of Brandon; grandchildren, Marilyn Roberts and Conner Stingley. The family would like to offer special thanks to April and Linda from Baptist Hospice, his next door neighbor Angel and his caregiver for the last two months, Paris, who he thought of as family.
