John Wesley Rogers

John Wesley Rogers, 88, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2025. He was born on February 4, 1937, in Mount Olive, MS, to Clyde M. Rogers and Nora Calhaun Rogers. 

John was raised in Mount Olive and spent most of his adult life in Pearl, MS. He was a member of Briarhill Baptist Church in Florence, MS. He was an avid fisherman, but above all else, he was a family man who enjoyed spending most of his time surrounded by loved ones.

John is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy O’Neil Rogers; his son, John Mark Rogers; his parents, Clyde M. and Nora Calhoun Rogers; his sister, Gladys Ward; and his brothers, George Rogers, Bobby Joe Rogers, and Archie Ray Rogers. He is survived by his daughter, Becky Odom (Jimbo); his son, Tim Rogers (Angie); his sister, Francis Burnside; his brother, Marion Rogers; his grandchildren, Jennifer Rogers (J.R.), Ryan Odom (Samantha), Bryan Waldrop (Bre), Matt Waldrop (Anna), Allen Darby, Amanda Newell (Mitchell), Ashley Grace Rogers, Nathan Rogers, and Phillip Rogers (Lora); and twelve great grandchildren along with a multitude of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and extended family for visitation from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2025, and again on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday followed by burial at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Mt. Olive, MS.
