Mr. John Gathright Vaughn

John Gathright Vaughn, 88, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson. Visitation will be Thursday, January 1st from 5-7 PM and Friday, January 2nd from 9 am until the 10 am Funeral Service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow at Mountain Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Vaughn has been a resident of Florence since moving here in 1964 from Batesville, MS. He retired from Rankin County as a Road Foreman and was a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and woodworking, fishing, flower gardening, his chickens and his cat, Tom. Mr. Vaughn was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Suzie Vaughn and by his son, Cullie Wright Vaughn. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Vera Vaughn of Florence; sons, Willie (Shirley) Vaughn of Philadelphia, Larry (Patsy) Vaughn of Braxton, and Jerry (Patricia) Vaughn of Pearl; daughter, Judy (Bob) Bullock of Florence; 9 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.
