Johnny Jones, a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on February 27, 2025. Born and raised in Mize, MS, to Clinton H. Jones and Ethel Christine Jones.
Johnny was a proud member of the Class of 1962 from Central High School, where he laid the foundation for a life characterized by hard work and determination.
He was known for his exceptional work ethic and his ability to approach tasks with unwavering resolve, though those who knew him often noted that patience was not his strongest virtue. A man of many interests, Johnny found joy in attending garage sales and auctions, consistently on the lookout for hidden treasures. He relished the time spent riding his tractor and working on his beloved property, where he took pride in his surroundings.
Johnny cherished his church, Bethesda Baptist Church and the community it provided. His charisma made him beloved among friends and congregants alike. It was said by all who knew him that he possessed a rare gift for persuasion, able to sell ice cream to an Eskimo, a testament to his personable nature and approachability. Above all, Johnny was a family man. He cherished the moments spent with them, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Johnny is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Greta Bishop.
He is survived by his wife of 60 and half years, Juanice Jones; a sister, Ann Donahoe and her daughter, Christi Bokros (Danny); his children, who took immense pride in their accomplishments, Dean Jones (Lynn) and Chris Jones (Delisa). His grandchildren—Taylor Jones, Bailey Jones, Parrish Jones (Jessica), Slater Jones (Kaitlyn), John Luke Jones, Alanna McCoy (Cam), Michael Leach, Lauren Leach, and Malaurie Allen (Michael)—were a constant source of joy in his life. His legacy continues to shine through the laughter and love shared among his great-grandchildren—Amelia and Gabriel Jones, Sadie and Ella Leach, and Tate Teasley.
As we reflect on his life, we celebrate a man whose spirit touched many, whose laughter echoed in the hearts of his close-knit family and friends, and whose memory will remain a guiding light to those who had the privilege of knowing him.
