Joseph Bart Atwood,39, passed away in Terry, MS, March 31, 2024. Born in Jackson, MS, September 19, 1984. He was the son of the late Joe Atwood and Mrs. Linda Haley Neufeld. He was one of four siblings. Joseph had recently relocated to Terry after spending much of his life in Crystal Springs.
Joseph served his country in the United States Army during Iraq Freedom. His bravery and commitment did not go unnoticed by those who served alongside him.
He was known for his dedication as an electrician with Covington Electric. He was a hard worker who found joy in his work and was respected by all who knew him. It was a career he loved.
His love for animals and children was evident to all who crossed his path. He possessed a big heart and was recognized for his loyalty as a friend. His caring nature extended not only to his loved ones but also to the community around him.
Joseph and his wife, Neva enjoyed traveling together, especially to the beach. They loved spending time in his "Man Cave" watching movies, playing pool, shuffleboard, and throwing darts. He was a big practical joker and loved playing pranks on his wife and friends. They loved fishing in their pond, as well as riding their "side-by-side" together on their land. He loved hosting family and friends at their home. These were some of his happiest times.
Joseph will be dearly missed by his surviving family, including his beloved wife, Neva Marie Atwood; devoted mother, Linda Neufeld (Ellis) of Memphis, TN; caring sisters, Mollie Meyers (Trent) of Brandon and Anna Williams (Blake) of Wesson; supportive brother, Josh Phillips (Ashton) of Florence. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Justin Long (Charity), and mother-in-law, Tanya Long. He loved his nieces and nephews and cherished every occasion to spend time with them especially their fishing trips, he left Millie Morris, Riggs, Caeden, Aubree, Jacob, Tanner, Madisyn, Donzie, Lee, Wyatt, Charlie, Swazie, and John Luke with so many great memories. His memory will be cherished by his two best friends, Brandon Allen and Daniel Osborne.
Preceding him in death are his father Joe Atwood and father-in-law, Glynn Long.
Joseph Bart Atwood's legacy of hard work, kindness, and loyalty will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
