Mr. Joseph "Joey" Wayne Garrard

Joseph Wayne (Joey) Garrard, 42, of Richland, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018 from complications of brain cancer. Joey fought a courageous battle against brain cancer since May 2009. A Celebration of Life will be at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Visitation will be Saturday, May 19th from 5 till 8 p.m. Memorial service will be Sunday, May 20th at 2:00 p.m. Joey donated his body to medical science. He was preceded in death by his dad, Lee Garrard; stepdad, David Grace; beloved friend Garry Smith; grandparents, Powell & Lula McKenzie Compton; Aunt, Jewel Compton Watkins; & Uncle, James Compton. He is survived by his mother, Jean Garrard Grace; brother Rocky Garrard, (Robin); special cousin, Chad Daniel (Selena); special cousin, Dot Pezant & family; special aunt, Ina Grace Housley; & extra special friends: Marianne Rankin, Alisha Hewitt, Joy Roberts, Debra Martin, Curtis Quick, & numerous other friends & family who showed us so much love & support. Joey lived in south Jackson & Clinton for many years, graduating from Clinton High School in 1993. He worked for Jitney Jungle, Walmart, Ameristar Casino, & Kroger. Joey loved baseball & the Chicago Cubs, gambling, animals & fishing. A special thank you to our Angel all these years, Dr. Ruth Fredericks. Joey was blessed to have her as his doctor. During his final days in the care of Kindred Hospice, we were blessed to have Mary Ann Brown as his nurse. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charitable organization in honor of Joey.
