Joyce Evelyn Craig

Joyce Evelyn Craig, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed peacefully on July 13, 2024, at the age of 77. She was born on June 26, 1947, in Grenada, MS to her loving parents Bennie and Annie Huffman. 

Services to honor and celebrate Joyce's life will be held at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence on July 20, 2024. A visitation will take place from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:30 AM. The final farewell will take place at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson with a Graveside Service starting at 1:00 PM.

In her professional life, Joyce dedicated many years of service to businesses in California and Mississippi culminating with Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance Company in Jackson Mississippi. Her hard work was admired by all who knew her. Joyce's true essence shone brightest in her personal life. She had a heart of gold and an unwavering spirit of generosity. She was known for her creativity and craftsmanship. Her daughter fondly reminisces how Joyce handcrafted all her Halloween costumes, showcasing a talent that brought joy to those around her.

A pillar of strength for her family and friends, Joyce was always there to care for others with compassion and kindness. Her resilient nature inspired all who were fortunate enough to be touched by her presence.

Those preceding her in death are her parents, two older brothers and her husband, William “Bill” Craig. Joyce is survived by her; daughter Karen Renee Craig Norsworthy and husband Mark of Florence; son William “Bill” Allan Craig of Florence; grandchildren Katie Renee Norsworthy and Paden Grey Norsworthy of Florence; sister Rosie Marlene Norwood of Birmingham, AL; and brother Edwin Lee Huffman of Florence and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joyce Evelyn Craig will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the light she brought into the lives of those around her. May she rest in peace knowing she was loved beyond measure.
