Mrs. June Jordan Melton

Mrs. June Jordan Melton, 68, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015 at MS Baptist Hospital in Jackson. Visitation will be Saturday, January 17th from 5-8 PM and Sunday, January 18th from 1pm until the 2pm Funeral Service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Florence. Mrs. Melton, formerly of Florence, has resided in Braxton for the past 8 years and was a member of Holly Grove Baptist Church. After retiring from Blue Cross/ Blue Shield, she rebuilt and operated DJ’S country store in Florence. Mrs. Melton was active in many churches including Daniel Memorial and First Baptist Church of Florence and was a longtime Youth and Choir director for Clear Branch Baptist Church. She loved to sing and loved her family. Mrs. Melton is preceded in death by her first husband of 29 years, Dewitt Jordan. She is survived by her husband, John Wesley Melton, Sr. of Braxton; sons, Jodey Jordan, David Jordan and Danny Jordan all of Florence; step children, Tina Price of Raymond, Melissa Beliew of Mathiston, Idell Lane of Silver Creek, John Andrew Melton of Yazoo City, Michael Melton of Yazoo City and John Wesley Melton, Jr. of Braxton; sisters, Jeanette Morrison of Raymond, Birdie Burr Garrett of Flowood, and Betsy White Berry of Wesson; 2 grandchildren, Kaylah and Gracie Jordan and 15 step grandchildren.
