Mr. Karei McDonald, Sr., 83, passed into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at MS Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, August 16th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, August 17th from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. Funeral Service will be held at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow at Clear Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. McDonald was born on May 24, 1936 in Simpson County, MS to Sam and Grace McDonald. He lived in Florence and was a faithful member of Clear Branch Baptist Church, prior to that, he was a faithful member at Oak Forest Baptist Church in Jackson. He graduated from Terry High School and was a graduate of Hinds Community College. He retired as District Chief from the City of Jackson Fire Department. He was also retired from the MS Air National Guard as a Sr. Master Sgt. After retirement, he enjoyed raising and competing Walker Hounds. He enjoyed hunting and running trot lines. Along with his parents, Mr. McDonald is preceded in death by his siblings; Jane Lindsey, Belle Alexander, Joe McDonald, Sammy McDonald, Irl McDonald, Wren “Dot” McDonald, Ethela McDonald, Douglas McDonald, Mary Frances Dean and L.A. McDonald. He is survived by his son; Karei (Laney) McDonald, Jr. of Brandon; daughters; Daphne Matchen of Valpraiso, FL and Lindsey McDonald of Murphy, NC; four grandchildren; Kathryn (Daniel) Hendrickson, Mark (Erin) Pipper, Mary (Cameron) Widdig, and John Pipper; and four great grandchildren; Addalyn Pipper, Beckett Pipper, Lily Hendrickson, and Lucy Hendrickson.
