Karen Diane Buffington

Karen Diane Buffington, age 57, loving mother, adoring wife, and friend to many received the breath of life in the early hours on October 27, 2022 after a valiant battle with breast cancer at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Karen was born on August 12, 1965 in Jackson, Mississippi to beloved parents, Jack and Charlotte Brown. She was influenced by her family to be a doting mother and loving wife, always putting others before herself.  She worked at Mississippi Department of Employment Security for almost 25 years. 

She was known by many for her bright smile, contagious laugh, kind spirit, and brave soul. Karen loved to cook, decorate, play card games and to be surrounded by family and friends.  Cancer took a toll on her body, but she won in the arms of Jesus fully healed. 

Karen is preceded in death by her loving parents, married for 46 years, Jack Duane Brown and Charlotte Parker Brown and grand-parents Alvie B. Parker and Lilla Tramel Parker, Harmon Hugh Brown and Willie Mae Gorday Brown.

Karen is survived by her loving husband, Jeffrey Buffington of 9 years.  Her son, Josh Head of Las Vegas, NV and her daughter, Ashley Goodson of Byram, MS.  Her sister, Kathy Brown of Florence; niece, Natalie Allen (Gil) of Brandon; and nephew. Eli Scurlock of Florence.  Lastly, her beloved dog Ramsey who stayed by her side until her last moments. 

Family and friends are invited to visitation at 11am with funeral service at 12pm, Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram.  Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park in Clinton. 

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Ministries, Inc. in Ridgeland and Susan G. Komen.
