Kathryn C. “Boots” Crosby, 85, of Jackson, MS, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at Compere’s Nursing Home. Miss Crosby was born May 22, 1930, in New Hebron, MS, to the late Delta Crosby Sills and late Marion Crosby. When Miss Crosby was 18 months of age, her mother, Delta, married Robert Sills, and they combined their children into one large happy family. They all played and worked hard on their farm in New Hebron. Miss Crosby graduated from New Hebron High School where she was a cheerleader and played basketball. She then attended Mississippi College. Boots began a long career with Bell South Telephone where she retired with 32 years of dedicated service. After retirement, Miss Crosby lived happily at Eagle Lake in Vicksburg, MS, and was a member of Eagle Lake Baptist Church. In January, 2003, she received a medical overdose while at River Region Hospital. Because of this accident, she moved to Jackson, MS, for her family to help with her care. Miss Crosby was preceded in death by her father, Marion Crosby, her parents Delta and Robert Sills, along with her sisters Alice Ruth Latham, Grace Wallace and brother James Sills. Others who preceded her are her step brothers & step sisters: Wallace Sills, Walter Sills, Patsy Himel, Maggie Holmes, Kay Hartman, Eula Murphy, Delma Simmons, Wilma Tyrone. Miss Crosby is survived by her sisters Nell Wallace of Mize, Bobbie Price of Natchez and her step sister Roberta Magee (Lloyd) of Pearl, MS; sisters-in-law Sybil Sills of New Hebron, Evelyn Sills of Prentiss; brother-in-law Clarence Hartman of Regent, ND and many loving nieces & nephews. Visitation will be Sunday, June 28, 2015, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, MS, from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm. A simple graveside service will be Monday, June 29, 2015, at Cliburn Cemetery in New Hebron, MS, at 11:00 am. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff at Compere’s Nursing Home for their kindness, love and patience in the care of Miss Crosby. We would also like to thank Shirley Flowers & W.T. Lee for their love, support & true friendship. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimers Association.
