Kendal Edgar Douglas, 79, passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Visitation will be 3-5pm Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. The Memorial Service to celebrate his life will follow at 5pm in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Douglas was born in Pontotoc, MS to the late James J. Douglas and Lavonia Jones Douglas. He was a longtime resident of Jackson where he attended Northminster Baptist Church. Mr. Douglas enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting and absolutely loved working in his garden. He owned his own business for over 35 years, Douglas Welding and Construction Company and was a loving husband, father and grandfather—his family meant everything to him. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Cleta Douglas of Jackson; sons, Bart Douglas (Andrea) and Dereck Douglas all of Brandon; brother-in-law Kimble Tanner (Kay) of Tutwiler, MS; brothers Bud Douglas (Mary Alice) of Clarksdale, Jimmy Ray Douglas of Clarksdale and James Keith Douglas (Judy) of Cabot, AR; sisters, Niecy Johnston of Clarksdale and Carmie Kennedy (Mike) of Grenada; grandchildren, Jessica, Joshua and Rylee; great grandchildren, Ashlyn, Bella and Aubrey; many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, very close friends and faithful companion, his Schnauzer Mandy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital or Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital.
