Larry Wayne Armstrong was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on October 9, 1955 and entered into his heavenly home on August 28, 2024. He is reunited in heaven with his parents, Glynn Armstrong and Martha Dell Smith Armstrong.
Remaining behind to cherish their memories of Larry are his siblings, Randell Glynn Armstrong, Sheila Armstrong Thibodeaux Smith (Scott), Ricky Dale Armstrong (Nancy), and Mechelle Armstrong Putt (Kerry). Also remaining behind are an aunt and uncles, along with numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. He also leaves behind his constant companion and ever faithful dog, Sam, who remained by Larry’s side until his transition to heaven.
Throughout his life Larry persevered through numerous difficulties all the while maintaining his faith and love for his Savior, Jesus Christ. Larry was blessed with a warm, friendly personality which allowed him to strike up conversations with those he encountered in his day-to-day activities, which included frequent trips to the local Kroger and restaurants in the Byram area. He enjoyed laughter in his life and was quick with a joke, or an entertaining story. Although he loved his family and friends, Larry had a special love for his dogs, Trouble and Sam.
Larry’s life was that of a servant, particularly to his mother, and he took great pride in the household activities he performed, such as a superbly washed family car or a well-trimmed lawn. Willing to accept praise, he was also quick to express his gratitude to even the smallest gifts and favors he received from others.
The family would like to express their appreciation for Larry’s hospice caretaker, Dennis, and the entire staff at Arden Home Health and Hospice.
Larry exhibited Kamassa throughout his life. The meaning of the word “Kamassa” in the Choctaw language is “to persevere under difficulties and not give up”. With that in mind, in lieu of flowers, donations to the following organizations would be greatly appreciated and can be made online to radicallyagainstdystrophy.org, or by mail to: Radically Against Dystrophy, 452 Greenwood Lane, Ridgeland, MS 39157, or alternatively to Camp Kamassa in Copiah County, Mississippi, online at campkamassa.com, or by mail to: Mississippi’s Toughest Kids Foundation, P. O. Box 520, Crystal Springs, MS 39059.
A celebration of life for Larry will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 beginning at 2:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall of Lakeshore Congregational Methodist Church, 6880 S. Siwell Road, Byram, MS 39272.
