Mr. Larry Fisher

Larry Jack Fisher, 75, went to be with His Lord, Saturday, March 09, 2013 at his home in Byram, MS. Visitation will be Monday, March 11, 2013 from 4-8 PM and Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 10 until the 11:00 AM funeral service all at Daniel Memorial Baptist Church. Interment with Honors will follow at Lakewood Memorial Cemetery. A native of Hinds County, Larry graduated Central High School and attended Mississippi College. He was a veteran of the US Army and retired from the Jackson Police Department July 31, 1981. He went on to be the Emergency Director of Hinds County and retired November 2, 2009. He also was the Hinds County Fire Coordinator, Hinds County E-911 Coordinator and a member of the Mississippi Civil Defense Emergency Management Association. He was instrumental in starting the Hinds County Fire Fox Team for at the Hinds County Penal Farm. His work was his life. Larry had a passion for helping people in times of need. He loved his country and the citizens of Hinds County. Even after his retirement he served his community by working with the Hinds County Sheriffs Department, the Byram Volunteer Fire Department, and a Storm Watcher during severe weather. Larry had a passion for wood carving and was a member of the Wood Carving Association. He won several awards for his work. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed fishing. He was a deacon and member of Daniel Memorial Baptist Church and loved to sing and sang solos quite often. He is preceded in death by his father; Fred B. Fisher; Mother and Step Father Betty Fisher Fleming and Samuel B. Fleming; Brothers Carl H. Fisher and Gerald K. Fisher; and Nephew Ben Fisher. He is survived by his Wife of 15 years, Ann Fisher of Byram; Sons David Fisher (Michelle) and Marcus Bozeman of Byram; Daughter, Hope Bozeman of Jackson; Brother, Bruce Fisher(Sue) of Petal; two wonderful grandchildren; Megan and Allen Bozeman of Byram; and numerous nieces and a host of friends.
