Amy “Laura” Womack Jenkins, 98, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at her home in Terry. Visitation will be 6-8pm Wednesday, November 29th at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Services will be at 10am Thursday, November 30th at Wynndale Baptist Church with a one hour visitation prior to service time at the church. Interment will follow at Terry Cemetery. Laura was born in Utica, MS to the late Frank Hancock Womack and Ada Lily White Womack. She was a very loving and sweet person who always put others first. She spent her life raising six children, gardening, cooking, helping her husband raise cattle and harvest crops. She enjoyed her flower garden and visits from all her children and grandchildren. Her family remembers her homemade yeast rolls and special after school treats. Laura was a long time member of Cayuga Methodist Church. After she and her husband moved to Terry, they became members of New Haven Baptist Church. For the last five years, she was a member of Wynndale Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Elisah Braxton Jenkins, Sr.; son, Jimmie D. Jenkins; grandson, Eugene Slade, Jr.; granddaughter, Debbie Jenkins and great grandson, Donald Jenkins, Jr. Laura was the last of 11 children. Survivors include her sons Braxton Jenkins of Sante Fe, NM and Alan (Laura) Jenkins of Terry; daughters, Ina (Eugene) Slade of Terry, Laureen (Gerald) McDonald of Terry and Dawn (Tim) Matheny of Terry; 13 grandchildren, Susan Jenkins, Kathy Brasell, Judy Jenkins, Donald Jenkins, Sandra Walker, Amy Etheridge, Adam McDonald, Daniel Matheny, Melissa Matthews, Nicole Downing and Morgan Mitchell; 14 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
