Mrs. Lavada Martin Powell, 86, passed into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at University of MS Medical Center in Jackson. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, September 23rd from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Chancellor Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories. Lavada was born February 4, 1934, the last of 7 children of the late William Elias and Virginia Jane Martin in Louisiana. Mrs. Powell loved the Lord with all her heart and her grandchildren were a close second. She was a MS State champion bowler, participating in the Sr. Olympics and was also a Natchez City Champion. She also played basketball and guitar. She enjoyed crochet, knitting, ceramics and playing cards. She was an avid Ole Miss Fan. Along with her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Powell, Sr. and J. L. Myers; her brothers, Homer, Hershel, and Durwood; sister, Thelma Blackwell; and grandsons, John Christopher Myers and Curtis Myers. She is survived by her sons, Elwin (Paulette) Myers of Pearl, MS, Richard (Rhonda) Powell of Winona, MS and Keith Powell of Leesville, LA; daughters, Diane Beasley of Brandon and Teena (Danny) Odom of Florence; brother, Ted Martin of Pollock, LA; sister, Loyce Morrow of Baton Rouge, LA; grandchildren, Anthony Beasley, Michael P. Beasley, Patrick (Catherine) Beasley, Brad Myers, Shae (Todd) Godbey, Carrie Odom, Stephanie (Clint) Arrington, Jason (Heather) Odom, Jessica (Johnny) Adcox, Charlie Powell, Krystin Powell, Autumn Powell, Bryan Powell, and Brittany Powell; 20 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
